Can an accountant / bureau set up PAYE direct debit for an employer?
No, as an accountant / bureau you cannot set up PAYE direct debit for an employer directly.
The employer must log into their own PAYE account through HMRC’s Government Gateway to set up a direct debit, since they are the bank account holder and only they can authorise direct debit instructions.
You can guide the employer on how to do this, but only they can complete the setup.
