Managing Leave Requests with the Employee Portal
To allow employees to book or cancel leave through the employee portal, a manager needs to be assigned to review and approve requests. The leave requests will be sent to the manager’s email address. If the manager is also an employee within the same employer, the leave requests will be sent to any email address held on that employee’s profile as well.
This can all be managed easily from the calendar section within the portal.
Checking Leave Balances:
Employees can view their annual leave balance by selecting a date on their calendar. Please keep in mind that all booked leave—whether taken yet or not—will still show in the balance until it is actually used.
Please Note:
While the portal offers many helpful features, integration with Outlook or other calendars is not currently available.
Employees can only book annual leave, unpaid leave or the option to cancel leave. No other leave types are available on the employee portal, ie sick leave. Other types of leave will need to be booked by managers, in the client portal or by the payroll processor.
If an employee wants to change their email address, you will need to update it in BrightPay within their employee record.
They will need to set up a BrightID again with the new email address. Once you have amended the email address in BrightPay, you can invite them to the portal again by going to Employer > Employee Portal > Settings > More > Email employee portal instructions to employees.
The employee portal app is now available to download from Google Play Store and the App Store for iOS.
If payroll data is not visible on the app, check that payslips have been finalised and the payslip availability date has been correctly set.
Please note: Although the employer logo can be added to the payslip via the 'customise' option when downloading and printing the payslips - there is no option to display or add the employer logo to the employee portal.
