The presence of the clock sign (or "open payslip" icon) when trying to finalise payslips in BrightPay indicates that there are payslips in the current pay period that have not yet been finalised.
This icon serves as a visual reminder that some payslips are still open and require action before the payroll period can be fully closed.
Possible causes for this issue include:
Payslips Not Finalised:
- One or more employee payslips in the previous pay period are still open and have not been finalised. You need to finalise all payslips for the period/periods to remove the clock icon.
Outstanding Actions or Alerts:
- If there are any outstanding actions required (such as automatic enrolment alerts or other payroll warnings), BrightPay may prevent the finalisation of the payroll until these are addressed.
Batch Finalisation Not Completed:
- If you are using the batch finalise feature, a payroll will not be finalised if an applicable payslip is flagged for attention (for example, due to an automatic enrolment alert). You will need to resolve any flagged issues before you can finalise the period for all employees.
Summary
- Review the previous pay periods and ensure all payslips are finalised up to date, where applicable.
- Address any alerts or warnings that may be preventing finalisation.
- Once all previous payslips are finalised, the clock icon should disappear on the current pay period.
