When importing data, ensure that the National Insurance (NI) fields are accurately placed for correct reporting to HMRC.
Note: that the NIC earnings breakdown may differ between systems like Star and BrightPay. Ensure that the gross earnings for NIC, employee NIC, and total NIC are properly filled, as these fields are mandatory for accurate reporting.
If you are entering a new employee and BrightPay does not accept the National Insurance number, please check:
- The NI number is entered in the correct format (e.g., AB123456C, no spaces).
- There are no extra spaces or invalid characters.
All other mandatory fields (like date of birth) are completed correctly.
If the issue continues, try re-entering the details and saving again.
